Building a simple routine for oily, acne-prone skin
12 April 2026
Oily skin does not need to be punished into submission. Harsh, stripping products often backfire, triggering even more oil. The goal is balance, not dryness.
Start with a gentle gel cleanser morning and night. Follow with a niacinamide or salicylic acid treatment to manage oil and keep pores clear. Then — yes, even oily skin needs this — a light, oil-free moisturiser to keep the barrier healthy.
In the morning, finish with a non-greasy sunscreen. A lightweight or mineral SPF sits well over oily skin and protects the progress your other products are making.
Give any new routine six to eight weeks before you judge it. Skin renews slowly, and consistency is what delivers results.
